Birds Make People Happy
Last week I talked about how much fun bird watching can be to help relax the mind and how important it is to slow down and pay attention to nature. I wanted to share an article with you from the World Economic Forum that actually proves birds make people happy!
This was a study out of Europe, but many of the same principles can be applied anywhere. Take for instance the pandemic this year. Many people started working from home and now had an opportunity to look out their window during the day. They noticed the birds in their backyard and became curious. I have heard from numerous people on how working from home has allowed them some time to slow down and enjoy the birds that have always been there, but they were too busy to notice.
I know that when I am having a bad day or am stressed, I can always rely on the birds to help me refocus and clear the mind! It’s amazing how watching a goldfinch or listening to a chickadee sing can help bring a smile and to push out the negative thoughts. I've really paid close attention to the birds for about 10 years. It was almost like a light switch in terms of my awareness level to the different birds that are around. I honestly don't know what I would do without birds!
That's it for now, keep smiling and enjoying the birds!
