Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge Trip!
Our bird watching adventures took us to a new place last week! We made our first trip to the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge and had a wonderful time exploring the vast area. This is a great spot to find different water birds and waterfowl to mix up the viewing along with seeing traditional songbirds. Let’s take a closer look at our adventure!
This American Bittern was really neat to see as it stealthily walked around along the water. They blend in very well to their surroundings and can easily be lost if you are not paying attention. The variety of different water birds is incredible at Montezuma and should definitely be on your bucket list to visit!
This seagull was having a wonderful time floating along in the water. I love the way this photo turned out as the blue color of the water along with the ripples made for a really calming backdrop.
The highlight of the day was seeing a Bald Eagle for the first time ever! What a treat this was to see. As we were driving along the path by the marshes, we were talking about how cool it would be to see an Eagle, as we knew they had been sighted there. We saw a large bird sitting in a tree and were amazed to see the Eagle through the binoculars! This photo was taken really far away, but this was truly a special moment.
Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge is a beautiful place and is strongly recommended for a visit! That's it for now, keep on watching and enjoying the birds!!!
