What's that bird in my backyard?

The Red-winged Blackbird is one of the more common birds that you will see in the U.S. While not a frequent visitor to backyard bird feeders, they will eat sunflower seeds and can be found on the ground scraping up leftover seeds. One of the best places to find Red-winged Blackbirds is near marshes or wetlands. Look for them to sit on cattails where they love to perch!

The males with their black color can blend in with Grackles and Starlings, but once you see that red spot on their wings, that's where their beauty comes through!

Female Red-winged Blackbirds can look like Sparrows with their streaky brown colors sometimes causing confusion.

Keep an eye to the sky and also watch in your backyard for this beautiful bird!
